How to Order
1
Process
Step 1
Please reach out with any questions or if you need a quote! I am always happy to chat about the specifics of what you are looking for. If you decide to move forward with a painting, we will then further discuss exact sizing, posing, and more.
Step 2
Email possible photo references so that we can choose one key image for me to work from. I will need a photo taken on a digital camera that is close up and clear. Photos taken on phones are possible to use, but not preferred.
*For botanicals, I will provide the reference photos unless otherwise agreed upon.
Step 3
Once a key photo has been chosen, you will be sent an initial sketch where changes can be requested. After the sketch has been approved, I will begin the painting.

Step 4
When I feel that the painting may be finished, I will send a scan for you to look over. At this point, you can let me know if there are any minor changes you would like made. I will make any adjustments and once we are both happy with the finished product, I will send your portrait to you!

Photo References
When painting a portrait from a photograph, the photo needs to be a good substitute for the subject sitting right in front of me. Therefore, it needs to be large and sharp enough to provide a similar level of detail.

How many photos are needed?
To create a portrait with an exact likeness, I make a fairly exact copy from one key photograph. You may send as many possible reference photos as you like and I will work with you to choose the best option for this main reference image.

What should I take my photos with?
While most photographs today are taken on our phones, it is best to use a digital camera for reference photos. As my paintings are detailed, I tend to zoom in to see finer details of the subject matter. Photos taken on phones may be grainy when I zoom in and might not allow for the same level of detail.

Can any changes be made from the reference photo?
Small changes are possible to make. For example, with architecture, I can add some greenery and flowers or remove unwanted wires. In a portrait, I can easily tidy up hair a bit, remove unwanted dribble from around a child's mouth, or smooth out clothing.
I cannot make drastic changes to a reference photo.

Shipping
I will ship your completed painting via USPS First Class Mail. This is a fully tracked and signed-for service. I will email you your tracking number and let you know when to expect delivery (before mailing it I will check with you which is a good day to receive your portrait). Large portraits and international orders are sent via UPS. Shipping costs are at customer's expense.

All portraits are placed in acid-free cellophane sleeves and sandwiched between rigid corrugated cardboard sheets to ensure that they can’t be bent in transit. Finally, they are double wrapped cellophane.
